NG Moedergemeente – Reitz
A church sound and AV system that grew with the congregation — from analogue sound to full HD streaming, in three phases.
The Brief
NG Moedergemeente Reitz needed a reliable, flexible audio system for services — one that could handle worship instruments, multiple pastors, and different rooms in the building, including two mothers’ rooms. Over the following years, as the congregation’s needs grew, so did the system, expanding from sound, to in-venue AV, to full livestreaming.
Phase 1: Sound System
We installed an Allen & Heath analogue mixer running Mackie speakers through the main church, with additional smaller speakers covering the side galleries, the organ gallery behind the pulpit, and the mothers’ room. The system supports 6 wireless microphone systems for vocals and preacher and various instrument channels, a dedicated podium microphone on the pulpit, and a boundary microphone positioned to pick up congregational singing with the organ — feeding that audio through to the mothers’ room and, later, into the livestream.
Phase 2: In-venue AV
As the church’s presentation needs grew, we installed three projectors and screens — two at the front of the church and one on the back gallery, so the preacher and worship team could also see the presentations — plus a dedicated screen for the organist. A video feed was extended to a TV in the second mothers’ room in the adjacent hall. The system included HDMI connectivity at both the pulpit and the main control area, letting operators switch between a laptop and the main PC.
Phase 3: Streaming and Recording upgrade
After around 10 years of service, the church wanted to begin recording and streaming their services. We recommended replacing the ageing projectors and screens with 100″ LED monitors for a sharper, brighter image, and upgraded all video cabling from VGA to HDMI throughout. A PTZ camera and video mixer were added, giving the church full control over what’s shown — the camera feed, any connected PC or laptop, or a picture-in-picture combination of sources — to the in-church screens and the livestream independently or simultaneously.
The Result:
NG Moedergemeente Reitz now runs a fully integrated sound, AV, and streaming system that lets them broadcast services to members who can’t attend in person, while keeping every screen in the building — from the pulpit to the mothers’ rooms — in sync with what’s happening.
